Colorado Fly Fishing Guide
Hagen had his first fly-fishing experience as a teenager, targeting small mouth bass along the Tippecanoe River in Indiana, where he grew up. With 15 years of fly-fishing guide experience and extensive knowledge of the Summit County area, there are few guides in the state that are more accomplished than Hagen. Beyond Summit County, Hagen is also a seasoned guide on the wild rivers of Alaska’s Bristol Bay – it seems he has started to think like a fish over the past few years…
An accomplished oarsman, Hagen is more than comfortable on the biggest water, but has the necessary skills to get into the smallest of crevices, where fish are sure to be laying. Hagen’s favorite river to guide is the Roaring Fork, which he has come to know like the back of his hand.
When Hagen is not guiding the mighty rivers of Colorado and Alaska, he is the Director of Ski Patrol at Copper Mountain, where he has been managing the Patrol crew for almost a decade. When he’s guiding in Colorado, Hagen can be found fly fishing for Tarpon in the tropics, sailing his 18’ Catalina in Lake Dillon, traveling with his wife and dogs, or flying over the Rocky Mountains in a four-seater Cessna 172.
