Krystal 93 Radio, Morning Colorado Fishing Report – June 6,2012
June 06th, 2012
The following report is from our daily, morning radio fishing report. We try to give a quick and informative overview of what is going on in the central mountains of Colorado. Keep in mind that this is a very limited format, as they only allow us 60 seconds. For a much more detailed report, feel free to call us at the shop or check out our fishing report on TheColoradoAngler.com. For those of you that may be interested, hear us live locally on Krystal 93 (93.9 FM), or go to: www.krystal93.com, to hear us from outside of Summit County. The report generally runs between 7:50 and 7:55 am.
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6TH.
ON THE COLORADO RIVER TODAY, STREAM FLOWS AT PUMPHOUSE ARE DOWN TO 280 CFS, WHICH IS A LITTLE TIGHT FOR BOATERS, BUT PERFECT FOR A HIKE UP INTO GORE CANYON. AT THIS FLOW NOT ONLY ARE ANGLERS ABLE TO WADE WITH EASE BUT NOW THEY ARE ALSO ABLE TO TARGET FISH IN SPOTS THAT ARE TYPICALLY RAGING CLASS 4 AND 5 RAPIDS. SOME OF THESE RUNS AND POOLS WOULD NORMALLY BE UNDER AN ADDITIONAL 6 FEET OF WATER. WE HAVEN’T SEEN ACCESS INTO THE CANYON AT THIS LEVEL IN A DECADE. IF YOU ARE UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF THE HIKE BRING ALONG A GOOD OFFERING OF STONEFLY AND BEADED SEARCHING NYMPHS, AS WELL AS CADDIS, STONEFLY AND LARGE ATTRACTOR DRIES.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE TIME OR LEGS FOR SUCH A HIKE, CHECK OUT THE PUBLIC ACCESS UPSTREAM NEAR PARSHALL. ACTION REMAINS STRONG ON DRY-DROPPER RIGS FOCUSING ON CADDIS AND STONEFLY PATTERNS AS WELL AS SOME. PMD NYMPHS
