Krystal 93 Radio, Morning Colorado Fishing Report – June 7,2012
June 07th, 2012
The following report is from our daily, morning radio fishing report. We try to give a quick and informative overview of what is going on in the central mountains of Colorado. Keep in mind that this is a very limited format, as they only allow us 60 seconds. For a much more detailed report, feel free to call us at the shop or check out our fishing report on TheColoradoAngler.com. For those of you that may be interested, hear us live locally on Krystal 93 (93.9 FM), or go to: www.krystal93.com, to hear us from outside of Summit County. The report generally runs between 7:50 and 7:55 am.
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 7TH.
FISHING IN JUNE DOESN’T GET MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT WE ARE SEEING THIS YEAR. WITH RUN OFF TAKING THE YEAR OFF AND SUMMER CROWDS STILL A COUPLE OF WEEKS AWAY, NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO HIT THE RIVER.
ON THE UPPER ARKANSAS ACTION HAS BEEN STEADY ON HOPPER DROPPER-RIGS THROUGH-OUT THE DAY. TRY USING A FOAM BODY HOPPER ON THE SURFACE, THEN HANGING A DOUBLE DROPPER UNDERNEATH. THE FIRST NYMPH SHOULD BE A BEADED STONEFLY OR SEARCHING PATTERN, AND THEN FOLLOW THAT UP WITH A BAETIS NYMPH; THIS SET UP WILL ALLOW YOU TO FISH A VARIETY OF INSECT IMITATIONS AT ONCE COVERING THE DIVERSITY OF THE CURRENT FOOD CHOICES IN THE RIVER.
AROUND NOON, LOOK FOR THE POTETIAL FOR RISING FISH TO BE FEEDING ON EMERGING BLUE WINGED OLIVES. THIS GENERALLY LAST FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO AND HAS BEEN MOST PRODUCTIVE WITH DARKER SIZE 20 BAETIS DRIES.
