August 10 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 10th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10TH.
CONDITIONS ON THE BLUE CONTINUE TO IMPROVE ALONG THE ENTIRE RIVER AS FLOWS ARE DROPPING BELOW BOTH MAJOR DAMS. COMBINE THAT WITH FAVORABLE WATER TEMPS AND MAJOR INSECT HATCHES, IT MAKES THE BLUE TODAY’S TOP CHOICE.
BELOW LAKE DILLON, DRY FLY ACTION HAS EXPLODED FROM THE HEART OF SILVERTHORNE ON DOWN TO GREEN MOUNTAIN. DON’T LET THE REPUTATION OF THE BLUE AS THE TOUGHEST RIVER IN THE STATE FOOL YO. RIGHT NOW IS PRIME TIME TO ENJOY TOP WATER SUCCESS. BUT, YOU’D BETTER NOT HESITATE, THIS IS ONLY EXPECTED TO LAST ANOTHER WEEK OR TWO BEFORE FLOWS START TO RETURN TO COLDER, TAILWATER RELEASES, SHUTTING DOWN THE INSECT ACTIVITY.
ACTION ON THE LOWER BLUE IS HEATING UP AS FLOWS ARE PULLED BACK UNDER A THOUSAND CFS, MAKING IT A GOOD OPTION FOR NOT ONLY FLOATING, BUT ALSO LIMITED WADE FISHING. ANGLERS CAN EXPECT TO SEE A LOT OF CADDIS AS WELL AS SOME PMD AND YELLOW SALLIES ON THE WATER.
