August 12 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 12th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 12TH.
A COMBINATION OF GREAT RIVER CONDITIONS AND A BEAUTIFUL WEATHER FORECAST LOOK TO PROVIDE A GREAT WEEKEND OF FISHING.
ADDITIONAL FLOW REDUCTIONS ON THE ARKANSAS BELOW TWIN LAKES SHOULD PROVIDE EXCELLENT WADE ACCESS FOR ANGLERS WELL PAST GRANITE AS ACTION REMAINS GOOD ON A VARIETY OF DRY FLY AND NYMPH PATTERNS. LOOK FOR YELLOW SALLY STONEFLY AND PALE MORNING DUNS ALONG WITH A MIX OF TERRESTRIALS ON THE RIVER.
OVER IN SOUTH PARK, ANGLERS CONTINUE TO ENJOY MID-SUMMER ACTION ALONG THE MIDDLE AND SOUTH FORKS OF THE PLATTE. DRY + DROPPER SETUPS ARE YOUR BEST BET WITH EITHER A HOPPER OR STIMULATOR AS YOUR SURFACE FLY, BUT DON’T BE AFRAID TO TRY A STREAMER AS WELL, AS ITS GETTING TO THAT POINT IN THE YEAR WHEN LARGER BROWNS WILL MOVE UP INTO THESE AREAS.
THE BLUE RIVER IS DOWN TO A FANTASTIC LEVEL FOR WADE ANGLERS SO GET OUT AND ENJOY THIS BRIEF WINDOW OF DRY FLY FISHING BEFORE WATER TEMPS RETURN TO THEIR NORMAL COLDER LEVELS.
