August 23 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 23rd, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 23rd.
WITH THE START OF SUMMIT SCHOOLS YESTERDAY, SUMMER MAY BE OVER FOR LOCAL STUDENTS, BUT IT IS FAR FROM OVER FOR ANGLERS HOPING TO CONTINUE REAPING THE HARVEST OF LATE SUMMER FISHING ON CENTRAL COLORADO’S TROUT STREAMS.
ON THE ARKANSAS, WADE FISHING IS PROVIDING GREAT ACTION FROM HAYDEN MEADOWS ON DOWN STREAM TO BROWN’S CANYON. WITH THE RETREAT OF RAFT TRAFFIC FOR THE SEASON, ANGLERS ONCE AGAIN HAVE THE RIVER TO THEMSELVES. FISH HAVE BEEN TAKING A VARIETY OF DRY AND NYMPH PATTERN. GIVE IT A TRY WITH CHARTREUSE COPPER JOHNS, TUNGSTEN PHEASANT TAILS AND BAETIS NYMPHS AS WELL AS ATTRACTOR AND HOPPER DRIES.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THE ARKANSAS VALLEY WILL BE PART OF THE RACE COURSE FOR THE PRO CYCLING CHALLENGE ON WEDNESDAY, SO YOU MAY WANT TO PLAN YOUR DAY THERE FOR ANY OTHER DAY THAN TOMORROW.
IF YOU DO VENTURE OUT TODAY MAKE SURE TO WATCH YOUR SPEED IN THOSE SCHOOL ZONES AS YOU HEAD OUT OF TOWN.
