August 26 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 26th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR THURSDAY, AUGUST 26TH.
WITH THE RACE PASSING THROUGH YESTERDAY AND MOVING WEST, THE ARKANSAS VALLEY ONCE AGAIN OFFERS PLENTY OF SOLITUDE AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ANGLERS LOOKING TO GET OUT AND ENJOY SOME SOUTH PARK FISHING. ACTION HAS BEEN STEADY ON A MIX OF DRY AND NYMPH PATTERNS UP AND DOWN THE RIVER. IN THE UPPER STRETCHES TRY A DRY DROPPER USING A FOAMULATOR ON THE SURFACE AND TRAILING A CHARTREUSE COPPER JOHN. WITH A CHANCE FOR AFTERNOON CLOUDS, ANGLERS ALSO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SEE A BAETIS HATCH LATER IN THE DAY.
AS YOU MOVE DOWN STREAM CHANGE YOUR DRY TO A HOPPER PATTERN AS THE FURTHER SOUTH YOU GO THE STRONGER THE GRASSHOPPER POPULATION IS. ACTION HAS BEEN GOOD ON STREAM BANK HOPPERS AS WELL AS THE BARR / CRAVEN HOPPER. THERE IS STILL ENOUGH WATER TO FLOAT THE RIVER BELOW BUENA VISTA, BUT WITH THE LOWER FLOW, ANGLERS HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS HIKING INTO BROWN’S CANYON AND EXPLORING THE DEEPER RUNS RECENTLY EXPOSED BY FALLING RIVER LEVELS
