August 17 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 17th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17TH.
RIVER CONDITIONS ON THE BLUE RIVER BELOW GREEN MOUNTAIN CONTINUE TO IMPROVE FOR WADE ANGLERS. WITH FLOWS UNDER 500 CFS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS, ACCESS IS IMPROVING AND BEGINNING TO OFFER PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR WADE FISHERMEN. ACTION REMAINS STRONG WITH GOOD RESULTS ON DRY AND NYMPH PATTERNS ALIKE, LOOK FOR CADDIS, STONE FLIES AND THE FIRST SIGNS OF BAETIS IN THE CANYON.
TO THE SOUTH, THE ARKANSAS REMAINS A PRODUCTIVE FISHERY AS WELL, ACTION HAS BEEN BEST WITH DRY-DROPPER SET UPS, BUT THOSE WILLING TO STICK TO DRIES ONLY HAVE ALSO BEEN ABLE TO BRING FISH TO THE SURFACE WITH CONSISTENCY. GIVE IT A TRY WITH THE HIPPIE STOMPER AND A PURPLE PARACHUTE ON THE SURFACE AND CHARTREUSE HOT WIRE CADDIS AND COPPER JOHNS FOR THE NYMPHS. TRAFFIC AT HAYDEN MEADOWS HAS BEEN BUSY, SO JUST CONTINUE ON DOWN FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MILES TO THE KOBE OR GRANITE ACCESS POINTS.
