August 24 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 24th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24TH.
THE UPPER COLORADO RIVER NEAR PARSHALL HAS MADE A NOTICEABLE DROP IN FLOWS THIS WEEK FINALLY BRINGING WADE FISHING ANGLERS A HINT OF MID SUMMER LEVELS, EVEN WITH LABOR DAY FAST APPROACHING. NYMPH FISHING OFFERS THE SAFEST CHOICE WITH A COMBINATION OF BAETIS AND SEARCHING PATTERNS, BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OF RIFFLES TO PROSPECT WITH DRIES. MOST IMPORTANTLY UP THERE, THE MOSQUITOS HAVE DRAWN A LINE IN THE SAND SO BE PREPARED.
THE BLUE RIVER BELOW GREEN MOUNTAIN IS ALSO ON THE DROP THIS WEEK AND THE FISHING IS SHOWING THE BENEFITS TO THE FEW WADE ANGLERS WILLING TO MAKE THE DESCENT INTO THE CANYON. THERE ARE STILL A LARGE NUMBER OF CADDIS AS WELL AS A FEW STONES AND PMDS AND AS WELL, WE HAVE EVEN HEARD REPORTS OF A FEW GREEN DRAKES IN THE AIR. TRY WORKING THE RIFFLES AND POCKETS WITH A DOUBLE DRY SET UP OR RIG UP A DEEP DROPPER RIG UNDER A BIG FOAM TERRESTRIAL.
