August 3 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 03rd, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3RD.
YESTERDAY’S RETURN OF MONSOON RAINS HAVE AGAIN HAD AND IMPACT ON MANY OF OUR LOCAL RIVERS. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ANGLERS TO CHECK STREAMFLOWS BEFORE HEADING OUT TO THE RIVER AFTER A RAIN STORM SUCH AS LAST NIGHT. YOU CAN CHECK STREAM FLOWS ON THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES WEBSITE AT www.dwr.state.co.uis/SurfaceWater.Default.aspx.
THIS MORNING WE ARE SEEING SUBSTANTIAL SPIKES IN STREAM FLOWS ON THE ARKANSAS, SOUTH PLATTE, EAGLE, UPPER BLUE AND ROARING FORK. WITH THIS SPIKE IN FLOWS FROM RAINFALL IT IS POSSIBLE THAT CLARITY MAY HAVE DROPPED AS WELL, AND ANGLERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THAT POSSIBILITY. ALONG WITH YOUR TRADITIONAL FLY SELECTIONS TODAY ON THESE RIVERS, MIX IN A SAN JUAN WORM IN EITHER RED OR TAN AS WELL AS A DROWNED ANT.
IT APPEARS THAT THE RAIN HAS MOST AFFECTED RIVERS TO THE SOUTH AND WEST, AS THE COLORADO, AND MANY OF ITS FEEDER STREAMS, ARE HOLDING AT SIMILAR LEVELS TO YESTERDAY. AT THE BREEZE UNIT, ON THE WEST EDGE OF PARSHALL, SUMMER HATCHES OF CADDIS, PMDS AND YELLOW SALLIES CONTINUE TO EMERGE AND FURTHER UP RIVER TO THE EAST, THERE ARE EVEN A FEW RED QUILLS ON THE WATER.
AS ALWAYS, FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ON THESE OPTIONS AND OTHER TIPS FOR FINDING FISH, COME BY AND SEE US AT THE COLORADO ANGLER IN THE SUMMIT PLACE SHOPPING CENTER IN SILVERTHORNE, NEXT TO BLUE MOON BAKERY OR GIVE US A CALL AT 970.513.8055 AND BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.THECOLORARADOANGLER.COM FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION.
