July 22 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
July 22nd, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR FRIDAY, JULY 22ND.
THINGS ARE SHAPING UP FOR A FANTASTIC WEEKEND OF FLY FISHING WITH MULTIPLE OPTIONS FOR BOTH THE WADE AND FLOAT ANGLERS.
THE BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT FOR FOOT ACCESS IS THE ARKANSAS RIVER BETWEEN HAYDEN MEADOWS AND TWIN LAKES. THE RIVER HAS DROPPED TO LEVELS WHICH REALLY OPEN UP THE ENTIRE UPPER RIVER TO WADE FISHERMAN. CADDIS ARE EVERYWHERE AND WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE STONEFLY AND MAYFLY HATCHES SHOW UP AS WELL.
FURTHER DOWNSTREAM THE FLOAT FISHING HAS BEEN EXCELLENT THIS WEEK. THERE IS STILL A LOT OF WATER IN THE RIVER, BUT IT IS VERY CLEAR AND THE FISH ARE FEEDING ON WELL PLACED IMITATIONS. DRY DROPPER RIGS HAVE BEEN VERY PRODUCTIVE WITH GOLDEN STONE PATTERNS FOLLOWD BY TUNGSTEN BEADED NYMPHS.
AND OUT TO THE WEST THE ROARING FORK HAS DROPPED BELOW THE 3000 CFS LEVEL THAT REALLY SIGNALS THE START OF THE SUMMER HATCHES. NOW IS THE TIME TO GET OUT AND MAKE UP FOR LOST FISHING DURING OUR PAINFULLY LONG RUN-OFF.
AS ALWAYS, FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ON THESE OPTIONS AND OTHER TIPS FOR FINDING FISH, COME BY AND SEE US AT THE COLORADO ANGLER IN THE SUMMIT PLACE SHOPPING CENTER IN SILVERTHORNE, NEXT TO BLUE MOON BAKERY OR GIVE US A CALL AT 970.513.8055 AND BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.THECOLORARADOANGLER.COM FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION.
