June 01st, 2012
The following report is from our daily, morning radio fishing report. We try to give a quick and informative overview of what is going on in the central mountains of Colorado. Keep in mind that this is a very limited format, as they only allow us 60 seconds. For a much more detailed report, feel free to call us at the shop or check out our fishing report on TheColoradoAngler.com. For those of you that may be interested, hear us live locally on Krystal 93 (93.9 FM), or go to: www.krystal93.com, to hear us from outside of Summit County. The report generally runs between 7:50 and 7:55 am.
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR THURSDAY, MAY 31st.
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY, COMBINED WITH A LACK OF CROWDS MAKES THIS A GREAT DAY TO ENJOY SOME COLORADO FLY FISHING. WITH AN EXPLOSION IN THE FISH POPULATION LAST WEEK, NOW IS A PERFECT TIME TO HEAD ON OVER TO KEYSTONE AND FISH THE SNAKE RIVER. GIVE IT A TRY WITH BEAD HEAD SEARCHING NYMPHS LIKE A HARE’S EAR OR RED COPPER JOHN. SAN JUAN WORMS AND EGG PATTERNS SHOULD DO THE TRICK AS WELL.
ANOTHER GOOD OPTION RIGHT NOW IS THE UPPER BLUE BETWEEN BRECKENRIDGE AND FARMER’S CORNER.THER E IS A GOOD MIX OF MIDGE AND BAETIS ACTIVITY PROVIDING PLENTY OF FOOD CHOICES. TRY FISHING A COMBINATION OF FLASHBACK PHEASANT TAILS, MICRO STONEFLY AND STD BAETIS PATTERNS EITHER AS A STRAIGHT NYMPH RIG OR UNDER A STIMULATOR AS A DRY DROPPER.
