Krystal 93 Radio, Morning Colorado Fly Fishing Report – May 30, 2012
May 30th, 2012
The following report is from our daily, morning radio fishing report. We try to give a quick and informative overview of what is going on in the central mountains of Colorado. Keep in mind that this is a very limited format, as they only allow us 60 seconds. For a much more detailed report, feel free to call us at the shop or check out our fishing report on TheColoradoAngler.com. For those of you that may be interested, hear us live locally on Krystal 93 (93.9 FM), or go to: www.krystal93.com, to hear us from outside of Summit County. The report generally runs between 7:50 and 7:55 am.
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 30TH.
FOR A MID WEEK JAUNT, TODAY LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE ARKANSAS. FROM TOP TO BOTTOM THERE ARE SOME GREAT OPTIONS ON THIS PRODUCTIVE FREESTONE AND ANGLER TRAFFIC IS MINIMAL
STARTING IN THE UPPER REACHES, CHECK OUT THE ACCESS POINTS BETWEEN HAYDEN MEADOWS AND CLEAR CREEK. EARLY IN THE DAY FOCUS ON BLUE WINGED OLIVE NYMPH PATTERNS SUCH AS THE JUJUBAETIS. MOVING INTO MID DAY SWITCH OVER TO CADDIS PATTERNS AS THERE IS STILL A GOOD HATCH IN THE UPPER RIVER, YOUR BEST BET WOULD BE TO FISH EITHER OF THESE BEHIND A STONEFLY IMITATION SUCH AS A TUNGSTONE.
FURTHER ON DOWN RIVER CHECK OUT THE ACCESS BETWEEN BUENA VISTA AND SALIDA. DRY DROPPER RIGS HAVE BEEN SOLID PRODUCERS STARTING WITH A HOPPER OR GOLDEN STONE PATTERN AND THEN DROPPING A MIX OF STONE FLY AND BAETIS NYMPHS UNDERNEATH. THE HOPPER ACTION HAS BEEN QUITE GOOD FOR SO EARLY IN THE SUMMER.
FOR MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ON THESE OPTIONS AND OTHER TIPS FOR FINDING FISH, COME BY AND SEE US AT THE COLORADO ANGLER IN THE SUMMIT PLACE SHOPPING CENTER IN SILVERTHORNE, NEXT TO BLUE MOON BAKERY OR GIVE US A CALL AT 970.513.8055.
