August 16 Krystal 93 Colorado Fishing Report
August 16th, 2011
GOOD MORNING SUMMIT COUNTY, I’M ANDREW WITH THE COLORADO ANGLER AND THIS IS YOUR HIGH COUNTRY FISHING REPORT FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 16TH.
EVEN AS SUMMER WINDS DOWN IN THE MOUNTAINS, FISHING CONTINUES TO PRODUCE PEAK-SEASON ACTION, SO GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY THE REMAINING DAYS OF SUMMER.
AS FOR A PLACE TO ENJOY THIS GREAT ACTION, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE COLORADO RIVER. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR JUST ABOUT EVERY ANGLER ON THIS LOCAL GEM. ON THE UPPER RIVER ABOVE KREMMLING, RESULTS ARE CONSISTENT WITH NYMPHS FOR A MULTITUDE OF BUGS LIKE PMDS AND YELLOW SALLIES AS WELL AS SOME EARLY BAETIS.
FURTHER DOWNSTREAM, FLOAT FISHERMEN ARE EXPERIENCEING EXCELLENT ACTION AS WELL, AS THE RIVER FROM PUMPHOUSE DOWN TO DOTSERO IS OFFERING THE BEST FISHING OF THE YEAR. NYMPHS CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE BEST RESULTS, BUT A HOPPER-DROPPER SETUP MAY HOLD A LITTLE MORE EXCITEMENT AS THERE ARE PLENTY OF HOPPERS ALONG THE BANKS TO TEMPT A TROUT LOOKING FOR AN EASY MEAL. KEEP IN MIND THE TRAFFIC HAS BEEN LESS INTENSE IN THE LOWER ACCESS POINTS SUCH AS CATAMOUNT TO BURNS.
